Written terms before work begins

Every client should receive Terms of Business that identify the instructed barrister or authorised provider, define the work, explain the no-win-no-fee arrangement and state how the agreement may be ended.

The final terms should cover

• The service provider and regulatory status
• The exact fee, VAT position and worked examples
• What counts as a successful outcome
• Whether Mandatory Reconsideration and tribunal work are included
• Client responsibilities and information required
• Cancellation rights and termination
• Data protection, complaints and record retention
