Find the people missing out
Use public, area-level evidence and community partnerships to reach households where under-claiming may be highest.
Campaign One Million
There are people of State Pension age who may be entitled to Attendance Allowance but are not receiving it. Every properly awarded claim moves the number in the right direction.
The campaign begins at 1,100,000. Each verified success is designed to reduce the figure.
The mission
Campaign One Million is built around a simple idea: benefit under-claiming is experienced one household at a time. Behind the national number is a person living with illness, disability, supervision needs or difficult nights — and often a son or daughter trying to help.
The campaign exists to turn awareness into properly prepared claims and to make every success visible.
Use public, area-level evidence and community partnerships to reach households where under-claiming may be highest.
Explain Attendance Allowance plainly and take the detailed form off the family’s shoulders.
Use the legal routes available when a valid claim has been refused or under-awarded.
Publish consented “One of the Million” stories and reduce the campaign counter.
The story of the counter
Most campaign counters celebrate an ever-larger total. This one does the opposite. The end point is zero: nobody still missing out because the form felt too difficult or the first decision went unchallenged.
One of the Million
Only stories shared with informed consent should appear. The design below is ready for the first verified client stories.
A respectful introduction using only the name and location the client has agreed to publish.
What made the claim difficult: the form, memory, night-time needs, a refusal or an under-award.
The verified award and the difference it made, presented without exaggeration.
Community partners
GP surgeries, pharmacies, community groups, care settings and local organisations can help families recognise that needing support may translate into entitlement.
A simple first conversation
A short conversation can establish whether it is worth looking more closely at an Attendance Allowance claim.
